I started building airplanes with my brother Ira in 1938 during the heart of the depression. We both purchased a 10 cent rubber band model at the neighborhood drugstore. During the next few years we built as many models as our money would allow us to build. We had a ball building and flying them from the roof of the front porch. Needless to say they didn’t last too long.
The airplanes pictures shown in “My Old Airplanes” were all built between 1963 & 1970. All of the airplanes are gone except for the Orange “Taurus” which I gave Terry Holston in 2005, it is 42 years old. I believe the Orange Bird would still fly.
On January 1, 2002 Terry Holston and I flew the Red, White & Blue “Quick Fly” that I built in 1969. It crashed after two seasons of flying on September 20, 2003.
