Top Gun 2014 was scheduled for April 31, May 1, 2, 3 & 4 2014. Sawbones was entered in the Team Scale Class with Greg Foushi as the Pilot & Walt Carnes as the Builder.
It started raining on Friday, May 2nd at approximately 11:00 a.m. and did not stop until late Saturday afternoon. The field ended up being completely flooded. Sawbones was scheduled to be static judged on Friday at 11:45 a.m. We had planned for Dustin Buescher to test fly Sawbones during the open flying on Friday at 3:00 p.m. Greg Foushi, Sawbones’ Top Gun pilot, was going to practice his ten maneuver routine at least two times; obviously this did not happen.
Sawbones was static judged on Sunday at approximately 11:00 a.m. Sawbones scored a 93. We need to add wing navigation lights, landing lights, & a tail light for next year’s Top Gun. There will be a video made available in the near future of the static judging. There was 20+ mph crosswind, so we elected to scratch Sawbones from flying one flight since Greg had not flown the airplane.
